At the end of the day, all watches, pocket watches, clocks – and every other device you can tell time on – really do the same thing. The prices that people pay for watches can range anywhere from ten dollars at a local store to upwards of one million dollars. But what are those differences? In some cases, the difference in price is really just about which brand produces the watch. Also, things like historical significance, age, and features, come into play. Without further ado, here are the most expensive watches in the world…

  1. Chopard 210 karat, $26 million: Yes, you read that number correctly. This watch costs an astounding $26 million. If you look the watch up online and see it for yourself, you’d be able to understand why! The watch boasts an impressive 201 karats worth of various colored diamonds, and looks more like a bracelet than anything else. The diamonds surrounding the actual face of the watch look like a beautiful flower arrangement.
  2. Patek Philippe Super Complication; $11 million: This timepiece isn’t actually a watch, but is a pocket watch. The body is an entire 18 karats worth of gold, and was designed for Henry Graves Jr., a banker, in 1933. It is said that this watch took exactly five years to both build and design. Aside from telling time, the watch was also designed to include a chronological function for each hour of the day.
  3. Patek Philippe Platinum World Time; $4 million: As the third most expensive watch in the world, The Platinum World Time watch was sold at auction right here in the United States back in 2002. At the time, it was the only one of its kind ever made, making it extremely valuable. The watch actually winds itself, and can adjust to the time zone you are in.
